The Solo Scale:
If you’re going to spend a day at Area 15, that means eating. You’ve got a couple options, from food at The Beast, or boba, or the Lumin cafe. However, if you’re in the mood for sushi, there’s Kaia. This has a decent selection for you to choose from, ranging from starters to sushi to bowls and desserts.
There is an automated kiosk that supposedly will serve bowls that you can pick up. However, while we were there, the technology wasn’t working. Luckily, there was no wait for a seat at the counter, and service arrived within minutes.
That’s also for the best because the automated kiosk only had the bowl option and I was craving something else.
Going in, I wasn’t sure about the portion sizes, so I ordered two dishes — the shrimp shu mai and hand rolls. First, the waiter brought our drinks quickly enough, and then it wasn’t very long before the mains came out. In the meantime, we got the entertainment of watching food prep since our seats had a great view into the kitchen.
The counter seats have a nice feature where the eating space was lower with a second higher level used to pass drinks and food. That increased the amount of space available to eat, which was also a nice perk.
It turns out that the hand rolls were an extremely generous portion. If portion sizes are a concern, you can absolutely order the hand rolls and walk away full. Since I’d ordered two dishes, it was a little too much quantity-wise. Quality-wise, though, it was incredibly delicious.
In terms of price, Kaia falls in line with the rest of Las Vegas. You’re not going to be getting any cheap deals by eating here, but the quality of food is decent. It’s still a fantastic option if you’re spending the whole day at Area 15 and want something to help fill your stomach in between games, drinks, shopping, and exploring the Omega Mart.
Check out the menu at Kaia if this sounds like a great way to fill your stomach on an Area 15 day!
