Visit Area 15 in Las Vegas for art, fun, and anomalies

The Solo Scale:

We are not alone – in Las Vegas, that’s more true than you ever know. After all, when you walk down the Strip in the afternoon, evening, and at night, you’re not only not alone, but you are surrounded by other people. However, at Area 15 (a clever, yet simple reframing of Area 51), you’re not alone because you’re there to experience out-of-this-world entertainment in a venue that will make you feel a little like you’re the alien stepping into a foreign world of black lights, strange things, and wonderfully wild experiences.

If you’re planning to invade Area 15, you should know that it’s not an activity for a short trip. There’s plenty to do inside and you can dedicate an entire day to exploring. Luckily, it’s not that far off the Strip. If you’re feeling up for a walk, you can do that. However, it’s just as easy to get a taxi or rideshare. Unless you’re eager for some steps, it’ll be better on your legs and feet as well.

So, what can you do inside?

Shopping

Eclectic is the name of the game when it comes to the shops inside. There’s a few gift shops both in the main area and on the side sections. These shops carry fashionable items, nerdy items, and everything in between. You can also pick up Area 15 specific merchandise to commemorate your visit.

The prices are a little steep, but that’s likely because of the Vegas factor that they’re taking advantage of — where you won’t get much at all for a steal.

TIP: If you’re shopping in the main area where the blacklight is on, be careful about colours. Something you think is one colour might turn out to be something else when get into the daylight. If you really want something, see if they’ll let you take it into a normally lit space, just to confirm that it’s not something that’ll shock you.

Drinking

There are several bars that you can drink at, and we drank at both Oddwood and inside the Asylum bar. Oddwood had a vast array of clever cocktails with things like glow-up cubes.

The glow cube illuminating my drink at Oddwood.

However, a word of caution. If you have light sensitivity issues, you may want to give this a pass. Oddwood is set centrally inside Area 15, and there are strobing lights that cascade up and down regularly. If you’re very sensitive to light, you may want to find an alternate table instead of the bar, though the lights seem to come from all directions and might make that difficult. There are some very cool drinks to enjoy, though, and it’s a great way to pass the time!

The drinks you’ll get at other locations won’t be as fanciful, but you can still find some unique offerings like craft beers and other options to keep you hydrated.

Eating

There are multiple places to eat within Area 15 ranging from quick bites to sit-down restaurants. However, you’re still in Las Vegas. There’s a lot of amazing restaurants nearby and while the food at Area 15 was good, it wasn’t a memorable thing that I can still talk about to this day. My recommendation is to eat a small meal and save your appetite for something with a bit more range.

You can also dine at The Beast or lumin, or grab quick bites at Dreamweaver, Conduit Cafe, or Rocket Fizz. Find more details at Area 15’s website here.

Games & Experiences

The real reason that most people go to Area 15 is for the entertainment. Whether that’s venturing deep into Omega Mart, playing one of the interactive games (like AR Dodgeball, Axe Throwing, Brainteasers, Golf, and more), or going more physical and playing old-school games.

During our visit, we opted to visit the Asylum Bar & Arcade. It’s a two-story area where you can get a drink and tokens to play classic favourites like pinball and games that you’d find in a classic arcade. Even with playing only at a limited location, we still spent about an hour. If you really wanted to complete all the games, you’d probably need multiple days.

If you’re a frequent Vegas visitor, that might be a great incentive for you to return!

The Price

If you’ve made up your mind and want to go, let’s talk costs. You aren’t going to simply buy an entry ticket. When you visit Area 15, you’ll have to do a little bit of research and decide just how much you want to do. You’ll be buying an Experience Pass, which has four levels. Notably, this does not include Omega Mart until you reach Level 3.

As you’re going through the list, keep in mind that your time is limited, especially if you want to do Omega Mart which can easily eat up at least several hours (if not more). That very much limits how long you’ll get to spend at the other attractions, especially if you want to do things like eat, drink, and shop.

For the lowest level, it’s a fairly reasonable price and includes the following experiences for just $32 (pre-tax), as of 2025:

  • Asylum Bar + Arcade ($5 in tokens)
  • Bot Breach | Blast of Boogie VR
  • Brainstorm | The Oracle Reading
  • Laser Maze | Outsmart the Beams
  • LIFTOFF | Observation Sky Ride
  • Museum Fiasco | Light & Sound Spectacle
  • Origin Quest | AREA15 Mysteries Scavenger Hunt
  • Particle Quest | The Beginnings of AREA15 in AR
  • Wink World | Psychedelic Art Experience

In our case, it made more sense to get the base level and do Omega Mart tickets separately, because we only wound up doing Asylum Bar out of the list even though we had high hopes to do the scavenger hunt and at least one of the other activities, but Omega Mart truly took up the majority of the day. In retrospect, we should have probably stayed longer to get more value or simply opted for Omega Mart, but at the same time, we still had a good time at Asylum Bar + Arcade.

Overall, even though our visit was mainly Omega Mart, drinks, lunch, and the arcade, Area 15 had incredible vibes and being there was a lot of fun. It’s true that a lot of their experiences are more on the virtual/augmented reality side, but it’s still something worth exploring and it’s a fun diversion in Vegas.
