The Solo Scale:
In order to visit the Aquarium, you’ll get to add another fantastic sight to visit in Vancouver — Stanley Park. There’s plenty to fill the day if you’re in the Vancouver area. If you’re fascinated by sea life, then this is a great stop for you! If you intend to spend the day in Stanley Park, you could start with a walk around the seawall. That’s a 10km loop in total, so if you’re worried about your energy, maybe save that for later.
The Aquarium, which is Canada’s largest, is located right near the entrance. There’s plenty of parking, so you can grab a spot with ease. It’s still easier to go a little earlier in the day to truly avoid worrying about crowds.
If you’re staying at a hotel in downtown Vancouver (especially closer to English Bay), it’s an easy walk to Stanley Park. You shouldn’t need to take a taxi or other transit.
TRIP TIP: Keep in mind that you will be heading downhill on the way to Stanley Park. Unless you’re staying nearby, the walk back will be a little hilly. Leave some energy in the tank.
When you arrive at the Aquarium, there’s plenty to see! With Clownfish Cove, multiple touch pools, and ridiculous adorable animals (including sloths and sea otters!), there are so many ways to learn about marine life.
For those worried about the humane conditions of the Aquarium, there are no orcas or other animals in too-small areas.

The facility is also a Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, operating for over 60 years to rehabilitate and get animals back into their natural habitat. It’s a great half-day trip for families, kids, or even just adults fascinated by marine life.

For more information on ticket prices, visiting hours, and more, check out the Vancouver Aquarium website. There is parking on site if you’ve rented a car, but otherwise, enjoy the leisurely walk and explore the rest of Stanley Park after your visit!
