The Solo Scale:
After my most recent trip to Walt Disney World, I came to a conclusion that’s probably not surprising. The Grand Floridian has one of the best restaurant slates of the entire property. With Victoria & Albert, Narcoosee’s, the Grand Floridian Café, and Citricos, you can’t really go wrong.
You can read my reviews of Victoria & Albert (coming soon!) and Narcoosee’s on this site. Here, we’re talking about the Citricos lounge and restaurant. Citricos is inspired by the Mary Poppins movie. However, it felt like the same Grand Floridian architecture where I was sitting. It’s still perfectly lovely, but there’s nothing in your view that will make you have immediate recognition of the movie. Hence, the ‘inspired by’.
You’ll find both of these in the same place. If you do want to go, make sure you check the availability. Just like Victoria & Albert’s, this area of the Grand Floridian is closed on Sunday and Monday. You won’t even be able to access the area to view it. If you want to dine here, you’ll have to visit from Tuesday to Saturday. You might need to rejig your schedule, but it’s worth it for the amazing food and to spend time at the incredible Grand Floridian.
If you do make it in, you can choose between the lounge or the dining room. In truth, they’re basically one and the same. If you turn your head at the bar, six feet away are the tables for the restaurant. There’s also a little walk-up bar if you want something quick and to go.

If you sign up for the walk-up waitlist for the lounge, it won’t take long and you’ll actually get a seat at a table. However, if you just want to enjoy a drink at the bar, there’s usually a seat available. It’s a great place to have a chat with the bartender while you wait for a table or just cool down from a long day. You also get a front row seat to the kitchen operations, which is great entertainment when you’re solo and don’t want to make conversation.
The Food
In general when I’m on my own at Disney, I’ll avoid the entrée section of the menu. Typically, those meals are too large and I’m not a huge fan of leftovers when you’re on property (thanks to the lack of a microwave). Dining at Citricos helps that decision by offering a fantastic amount of delicious sounding appetizers that it’s easy to bundle together a meal using nothing more than the first section of the menu and the sides section. When I dined at Citricos in February 2025, the menu had four items that looked really appealing to me.
Luckily, none of the portions were overly large. You’ll also get some table bread as part of your meal (served with guava infused butter), so don’t worry too much about not getting enough food.
I split my course into two sections so it still felt like I was getting appetizers and then a main, despite only ordering from the one section of the menu. First, I ordered the Sweet Corn Bisque alongside the Arancini with Peas (it’s not currently on the menu, but may return come winter). With this, my waiter recommended a lovely Sancerre wine that paired nicely with all the dishes.

After this, my main was the Yuzu-Soy Roasted Duck Breast (from the Appetizer menu) and the Truffles & Pasta (from the Enhancements menu). The portions of these were absolutely fantastic. I felt like I had a great assortment of flavours and none of it missed. Every single dish was fantastic.

In general, the food definitely outweighed the vibes of the restaurant. I was seated closer to the kitchen and had a slight view out of the windows, but it was pretty standard for a nicer restaurant. I do think that the value for the food here is pretty good, because it feels like a bit higher than a normal restaurant would be. Plus, as is typical with Disney restaurants, I felt like the service was fantastic.
I’d absolutely head back to Citricos again. There’s a whole menu full of items that I’m eager to try now that I know the quality is so strong. Plus, the proximity to the Magic Kingdom makes this a great option if you want to leave the park and have some downtime.
