The Solo Scale:
There’s no shortage of museums in Paris. There’s also a wealth of art to admire within those museums. Something has to set them apart to be an experience worth having. The Rodin museum combines famous art (the Thinker and the Gates of Hell) with one of the loveliest locations in Paris, hidden within the walls of the museum.
Similar to Versailles, the museum itself is only one of the perks, but the true gem is the gardens that you’ll find included as part of your admission.
Take your time to wander inside the Hôtel Biron , which includes The Kiss, The Cathedral, and even a Van Gogh painting (and so much more).
Then, move on to the garden, which is where you’ll find some of Rodin’s most famous pieces of art. The Thinker is on display here, shadowed by the golden dome of the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower in the distance past it. You’ll get to discover a number of other sculptures among the hedges and trees, including the Gates of Hell.
The garden is lush with trees if you visit in the spring or summer. It makes you feel like you’ve discovered your own little oasis, even though you’re right in the heart of Paris.
There’s even a café on the grounds of the garden. You can get coffee, a snack, or even a meal, and enjoy the incredible sculptures in a fantastic garden setting. The garden can be rented out for weddings, parties, and other events. You may end up with a tent in your view, but that won’t subtract from Rodin’s sculptures.
For this excursion and for your first time, give yourself at least three hours to explore. That gives you plenty of time to sit down, and enjoy a coffee and snack. It’s a centrally located museum and a fantastic atmosphere to soak up the art, the gardens, and the history.
If you’re ready to dive into Rodin’s artwork and luxuriate in the relaxing gardens, get more information for your visit here. Keep in mind that the museum is closed on Mondays! Make sure you plan around it.
