Dining at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs: Restaurant Review

The Solo Scale:

Disney Springs has so many restaurants to choose from — from fast casual to formal sit-down and more. If you’ve got limited time (not to mention limited stomach space), it can feel impossible to pick. It really comes down to where your passions lie.

If you like wine, then the name “Wine Bar George” should be a tip-off that this is a fantastic choice for dinner. In terms of the wine knowledge, I have had a range. I’ve had servers who are great to recommend a wine, but don’t give much information beyond what makes a good pairing. During other visits, I’ve had well-trained sommelier-level waiters. They were not only can pair it perfectly, but also recommended wines based on what you like and the flavour notes of what you ordered.

I’ve visited a few times, sitting both inside by the wine cellar and outside on the balcony overlooking the Springs. I greatly preferred the second, but warnings must apply. This was in September and it did not cool down at all, not even when the sun went down. If you’re visiting in the warmer months, prepare to sweat and welcome the cool air-conditioning breeze every time the door to inside opens. That said, the balcony overlooks the stage, so you’ll be treated to dinner and a show. If you’re dining solo, it’s a great entertainment perk.

The mac & cheese bites

Both times I went, I stuck mainly to the light bites & appetizer menu. I’ve tried the charcuterie and the meatballs, as well as the mac & cheese bites and the zucchini fritters (which were a seasonal item). I have also tried the signature Saganaki on Fire. I have a potentially controversial opinion because I wound up a little disappointed. It was a good dish, but not as good as the other items I’d tried. I’ll also say that it’s really good for the first few bites before it starts to get very one note. I actually wound up pairing the fritters with the saganaki just to have something different.

In terms of cheesiness, I would opt for the mac & cheese bites. If you want a show, then absolutely go for the Saganaki.

There’s plenty more to try on the menu, of course. It changes seasonally, which means that there’s typically always something new for you to try out, and of course there’s so many wines that you could spend months having dinner at Wine Bar George and barely make a dent in the cellar.

It’s a great experience and if you get an outdoor table, the mood is absolutely perfect especially at sunset. There’s also the Basket, a to-go option for some of these items (including the mac & cheese bites), so if you don’t want to sit for a whole meal, you still have some options!
