The Solo Scale:
Even if you’re not a keen lover of Guinness, the Guinness Storehouse is an impressive stop when in Dublin. If you’re staying downtown and want to take public transportation, use the Luas (Irish for “speed”) to take the tram. The closest stop is St. James’s Hospital and from there, you’ll walk towards James Street and make a right. Upon arriving at Echlin, take another right, followed by a slight left to Grand Canal and a final left on Market Street. The exact address is St James’s Gate, Dublin 8, Ireland. Otherwise, use a taxi or ride share service to get you to the Storehouse. There, you’ll start your tour and learn all about Guinness!
The basic ticket admission for an adult is €22 (as of July 2026). You can get tickets on the website or pay on the day at the ticket booth. However, the website is a great resource for information about the tour and for hours of operation on the website.
If you’re short on time, the standard experience is a fantastic option that includes:
- Self-Guided Tour
- Entry to Guinness Tasting Rooms
- Entry to Gravity Bar and a pint of Guinness, Guinness 0.0 (18+), or a non-alcoholic drink
As you begin your self-guided tour, you’ll view items such as the 9000 year lease securely tucked beneath a viewing platform. They’ve installed some really cool set pieces that you get to walk through, so it’s not like any other museum. Once you’ve taken your time exploring the history of the Guinness brand, you continue to see the process of making Guinness.
This is something that a lot of breweries with tours have. If you’re in Amsterdam, the Heineken experience is similar. For the most part, how beer is brewed doesn’t change too much between brands, so you can decide how long you want to spend here. The best part of the tour comes right after though. Because once you’ve explored the process of making the beer, you can head to the Gravity Bar. Here, you’ll get a great view of Dublin (weather permitting) and the included pint of Guinness.
If you’re a fan of the beer, the beer-making process, or if it’s a nice day and you want an amazing 360-degree view of the city, the Storehouse is a great half-day destination while in Dublin. I love a good Guinness and most of all, I love when you’re drinking it in Ireland. It feels like a rite of passage that everyone has to undertake at least once! However, a word of caution — don’t drink too much of it at once. It’s definitely a heavy drink, so make sure to exercise some caution when you’re in Ireland and appreciate in moderation.
