Are Gideon’s cookies at Disney Springs worth the price?

The Solo Scale:

Often, there are food destinations that are as busy as they are because of the hype. Does that mean that all these places aren’t worth visiting? Absolutely not, but it will mean that because the secret is out, you won’t be the only one there. In Disney Springs, Gideon’s Bakehouse is one of the most popular locations, overhyped, and the question remains:

Is it worth it?

Let’s break your visit down into the elements that will either add to or take away from the value.

The Staff: The staff here are well-trained and efficient. They have to be, as they’re one of the most popular shops. However, while they must field constant questions from visitors, they’re kind and courteous while also being super speedy to get you what you need, organize payment, and get you out the door with your delicious desserts.

The Theme: It’s creepy, it’s cute, it’s dark, it’s fantastic. Being inside Gideon’s is truly like stepping through a portal to another world. There’s no windows inside, so once those heavy doors are opened by a team member, you get the instantaneous change in mood. Does it put you in the mood to eat more cookies? Maybe the decoration won’t, but the smell definitely will.

The Food: The main offering here are cookies, both permanent and limited time offerings. There’s also a bevy of cakes and beverages, but it’s the cookies that they’ve become famous for. They’re no ordinary cookies. These things have a heft to them, but they’re also packed with quality flavours. When I visited, I was able to get a banana bread cookie, but also a limited offer key lime cookie. Against expectations, as I don’t truly love key lime, that limited time cookie wound up being my favourite.

This limited edition was a Key Lime flavour.

The Value for Money: While a Gideon’s cookie isn’t cheap by any means, you have to look at the amount you’re getting per cookie (or cake slice). They are massive. Not only that, but the flavours have lots of components. That means it’s not just sugar that will leave you hungry within a few minutes.

One other money note is that they do prefer electronic payment. They’ll take cash, but it’s swifter and faster to pay electronically. If you’re bringing cash, save it for another stop and use your card or phone here.

In general, I like to pick up things like Gideon’s for a hotel breakfast before hitting the parks. It’s even something that can fit into your bag. It’s a nice treat that lasts because of the sheer size, but also helps extend the indulgence. They’re really indulgent and large, so even a single cookie can tide you over for a full meal.

If you’re headed to Disney Springs, definitely check out Gideon’s. It’s a delicious cookie, a fun experience, and something that can help you in the parks if you don’t want to stop for breakfast. There’s a second location in Orlando if you have the ability to drive around, but if you’re in the Disney bubble, the line moves very quickly even at its longest.

There is a limit of seven cookies per order, but that’s still an obscene number of cookies. It just means that they’re saving them for other customers, which is a good thing overall!

Check out their website to see what latest cookies they have on offer!
