The Solo Scale:
Where do you go when you need to cool off for a bit, you’re over 21, or you’re in the lucky position that you’ve got time to kill in Hollywood Studios? That place is Baseline Taphouse. Not only is it quick-service, but it’s got a great range of beers on tap. It also has a lot of outdoor seating where you can park yourself for a while and chill out. It’s become a must-do every time I go to Hollywood Studios solely because it’s a great way to break up the day.
Plus, I love a good pretzel. While the food menu is limited, Baseline does have a good pretzel and even better dips to go with it.
So, What Can You Get There?
As mentioned above, the key feature at Baseline Taphouse are the beers. Given the name, that’s probably not surprising. What’s absolutely great is that Baseline is a great place to try out new tastes for those interested in beer. Thanks to the beer flight, you can mix and match any four beers on the menu to combine a flight.
When it comes to food itself, it’s a fairly limited menu with the key items being the pretzel and the charcuterie board.
Below are two versions of the pretzel that I’ve bought, a year apart, so you can see the range of quality. They both tasted great, but there does seem to be a slight change in the pretzel type (a little leaner/less salty), but still delicious. Truly, the best part of any soft pretzel are the accompaniments. In this case, that means the delicious mustard and the beer cheese.
What’s The Atmosphere Like?
Baseline Taphouse is located just outside of Star Tours. It’s a nexus point between Grand Avenue (RIP Muppet Vision), one of the Galaxy’s Edge entrances, and the area behind Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Plus, it’s one of the best places in the park to people watch. It’s shady most of the day, has lots of seating, and because families with young kids might choose another place, it’s not always packed.
The line can get very busy depending on the time of day. That said, the cast members do a great job of processing it quickly. Once you arrive at the cashier, you’ll place your order and pay. They’ll assemble all your food and drink items on a tray and then you’ll go find your seat. If you already know what you want, this is a super quick process.
In general, Baseline Taphouse has become one of my go-to locations for a bit of a cool-off, but not for the food. While I love a soft pretzel more than almost every other food, it hasn’t really changed much. The beer’s great, which is why this is a great place to hang out solo or get some quiet time with someone in your party.
