The Solo Scale:
What’s the first thing you notice about the Tree House Restaurante & Café in Monteverde? The Higuerón tree that the restaurant has been built around, which stretches up towards the sky in this open-air restaurant.
The restaurant itself has multiple floors with tables on all of them. Each floor has open-air windows, letting in a calming breeze while you enjoy your meal. Make no mistake — it can get windy in Monteverde. For the few days I was there, it was always a bit breezy given the altitude.
The menu is diverse with many options that include the familiar. Familiar still means delicious, though. The burger was some of the best quality meat on my trip.
While the food is amazing across the board, one of the highlights is their milkshakes — specifically the blackberry milkshake. It wasn’t too sweet and highlighted the blackberry flavour impressively. The prices are very affordable (on the menu in Costa Rican Colón), which means you can sample plenty of the menu!
If you’re in the area and need a quick lunch stop, check out the Tree House Restaurante & Cafe. You can view the menu here, along with their hours. You can find the restaurant in the Santa Elena Center, in front of the Catholic Church.
